No dollar figure on purpose. Two trucks with the same answers here can be quoted thousands apart once the underwriter sees the drivers' MVRs, the loss runs and the trucks' values. A number without those would be a guess.

Questions people ask5 short answers
How much does truck insurance cost?

It depends on the file more than the truck. Two operations with the same truck can be quoted thousands of dollars apart because of drivers' records, loss history, radius, freight and where the trucks are garaged. An accurate number needs a quote.

What raises truck insurance the most?

Claims, especially several in a short time, drivers with major violations, hazmat freight and being a new authority are the biggest. Long-haul radius and big-city garaging add to it.

How can I lower my truck insurance?

Hire drivers with clean records and experience, keep inspections clean, report claims honestly and keep them small, keep stated values current, and shop your renewal 30 to 45 days early.

Why did my truck insurance go up with no claims?

Rates also move with the market, with your drivers' records, your inspections, the state you're garaged in, and the values on your trucks. Ask your agent which part of the renewal changed.

Does a new authority pay more for truck insurance?

Yes. With no history under your own authority, insurers price for the unknown. Clean renewals bring it down, usually most noticeably after the first and third years.

Who built this

I'm Alex Kuchkarov, an independent trucking insurance broker. I don't put a dollar figure on this page because without your drivers' MVRs and loss runs it would be a guess. What I can show you honestly is which way each part of your file pushes the price, and that's where savings come from.

This page is educational. It is not a quote, a policy or an underwriting decision. Help from a person is always here if you want it; it isn't required.
